Gaming MondaySeptember 9th. Cancelled.

Postby Eilif » Mon Sep 02, 2024 12:45 pm

Hey Folks,
Hope you're all having a great Labor Day.

We're a week away from our first non-mordheim gaming night. What do you all want to play. Personally, I'm in mood for something big. Maybe Grimdark Future? Maybe someone wants to try Age of Fantasy Regiments or Kings of War? Maybe something else? I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Hi Karl,
Grimdark sounds great to me, although if anyone wants to play Age of Fantasy Regiments that would be fantastic too!

Oops sorry Karl! Didn't notice this thread had already gone up.

I plan to be there. If we get a fourth player, I've been itching to play either Turnip28 or Dragon Rampant (I've been reading through both rulesets and they actually have a fair bit in common). If not, I'd be happy to just bring some hobby supplies and hang out/convert some minis while you two play.

Sounds good Mattias.

I think Michael was eager to play turnip, so I'm fine if he would rather do that. I can join in (Michael has multiple forces) or play with whomever else shows.

I still have at least the desire to have my own turnip force someday so I should play it again.

Excellent. Michael, let us know what you'd prefer. I'm cool either way.

If we decide to do 3 player Turnip 28, I think I can field 6 snobs if Michael has enough for you two to field 3 snobs each.

Hey all,

I'm curious about this Turnip28 thing, but I'm not sure what to bring to try it. If you guys aren't looking to do a tutorial of sorts, don't sweat it. I'll read the rules in the meantime.

I can bring easily OPR/GW stuff.

I can also bring my hobby stuff and get some painting done and hang out.

Let me know what'd fit best in a short time. Thanks!

Gentlemen,
I have two Turnip28 Regiments, the 13th Bog Men Regiment and the 28th Imperial Rutabagas Regiment. When I played Turnip28 with Karl and Jon, I used the 13th Bog Men Regiment and Karl and Jon split the 28th Imperial Rutabagas Regiment. One player took the Toff and the two units he controlled and the other player took the two toadies who command one unit each.

Now if four of us are playing I can see Mattias with his full regiment playing against me and the 13th Bog Men Regiment and maybe Karl and James playing a smaller learning / tutorial game with splitting the 28th Imperial Rutabagas Regiment between the two of them. A second option could be Karl and James using some of their fantasy miniatures to fill out two full regiments from the 28th Imperial Rutabagas Regiment.

These are just suggestions which would be subject to change if anyone else is coming Monday. Let me know what everyone thinks.

To be clear, I'm just using my existing fantasy collection to field my force. The rules have a specific aesthetic in mind, but in terms of mechanics pretty much any fantasy/historical models will do.

If you'd like to bring your own regiment built from your existing collection, like I'm doing, you'll just need...

...4 units chosen from the following (multiples of the same unit are fine):
"Fodder" (i.e. 12 infantry models, armed with either black powder, missile weapons, or close combat weapons)
"Brutes" (i.e. 6 elite infantry models, armed as above)
"Chaff" (i.e. 4 scout infantry models, armed as above)
"Whelps" (i.e. 4 light cavalry models, armed as above)
"Bastards" (i.e. 3 heavy cavalry models, armed as above)
"Stump Gun" (i.e. 1 artillery model, extra crew models optional)

...and 3 models to represent your "snobs" (i.e. officers)
1 "Toff" (something like a colonel)
2 "Toadies" (something like a captain)

And that's it!
